Collaboration Works-in-Progress #1

It’s been awhile since we shared some in-process artwork and here is why: every participant is done with their illustration! But we’re not stopping here. Some of us have engaged in collaborations to illustrate the chapter headings of our artbook.

Here is a peek at what Kira and Lisa have been up to: Their piece features a flock of attacking  Harpies. They’ve organised the collaboration to focus on both of their strengths. They worked together on the story and selection of thumbnails. Then Kira did the creature design and lineart for the chosen composition while Lisa will be handling the color comps and last painting stages. All that was helped by many focused hours of hangouts and communication.

Can you guess why they have those vertical bars in the middle of the thumbnails ?

Thanks for your comment, Sue! I am glad you enjoyed the post! I always enjoy seeing other artists’ processes as well. I love that evolution from initial sketch to finished piece (sometimes there are surprising changes along the way)!

Thank you, Lindsay! That is very encouraging to hear. These collaborative pieces are a lot of fun; I can’t wait to reveal them! 🙂
