This week, #smaugust, promoting a kickstarter, thumbnails, and wrapping up the bioluminescent challenge set.
#SMAUGUST – Did you know it was Smaugust? Neither did we! But boy howdy were we excited when we found out! Daily dragons might be asking a bit much given how busy our team is these days, but keep an eye on that hashtag because we will definitely be making an effort to contribute as often as we can. We hope you’ll join us!
Spreading the word – Boneshaker Press is popping up everywhere! We’ve got official pages on Behance, Deviant Art, and LinkedIn, and we’re posting Encounters with the Imaginary work to all of our portfolio sites like Artstation and CGPlus. All this on top of our regular posting on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, and Instagram. It’s a lot of work, but the more we push, the more eyes we get on our campaign, and that translates into a bigger print run and… dare I say it? Stretch Goals!
Thumbnails! – I’m working on a series of blog posts about thumbnails, their purpose, and some best practices. Watch for it next week, and if you have questions, or if there’s anything about thumbnails that you’d like explained feel free to comment below and I’ll do my best to work it into the post.
Art Group Challenges – This week we’re wrapping up the bioluminescent challenge set. Artists who submit by Wednesday the 17th will receive a live crit during a Google Hangout in the near future! (It usually takes a week or two to organize the critique meeting, so please be patient).
Working on the book – It’s almost done, but we’ve still got a few pages to fill, and some corrections to make. Garrett, Evan, Magali, and I had a great meeting last Friday, taking time to discuss the introductions that will run at the beginning of each chapter, future blog post ideas, and a few other items. Let me tell you I am super excited to see what comes of it because there were some stellar ideas thrown around (between bars of an Irish diddy and attempts to out pun one another of course). The words, “this will elevate the book” were definitely said, and not even in jest! Magali also put together a spreadsheet and went through every artist submission with a fine tooth comb. Next step? Break out the elbow grease and polish!
Member Meeting – This Friday we’ll be gathering as many BsP members as we can to talk about the future of our company. We’ll be covering some pretty exciting topics, such as, determining how to add new members to the group and talking about what we’re going to do for our next project! …alongside some more grueling topics like “detailing the member’s agreement”. But hey, it can’t be all fun and games.
